Anti-Aging

Dr. Alvarez was motivated – by the loss of his father to pancreatic cancer, and, one month later, the loss of his mother at age 49 to Alzheimer’s – to go beyond the realm and scope of the medicine he had been taught. He has devoted the past 15 years to finding ways to extend the quality of life.

He is a member of the American Academy of Anti-Aging as well as a Diplomat of the American Board of Anti-Aging. He has served as medical director of The Anti-Aging Institute of the South, which provides anti-aging treatment with emphasis mostly on diet, proper nutritional supplementation, and hormone modulation. He was also medical director of DeAge, an exclusive anti-aging clinic located in the Four Seasons Hotel in Miami, FL.

Anti-aging medicine is the logical extension of preventive medicine, focusing on the early detection, prevention, treatment, and reversal of age-related dysfunction, disorder, and disease. Anti-aging medicine is a multi-disciplinary, clinically sound medical sub-specialty founded on advanced scientific and medical technologies and dedicated to prolonging the healthy human life span.

The goal of anti-aging medicine is to increase the health span, not just the lifespan. Most of us do not want to live longer if it means living with chronic illness, debilitating conditions, or cognitive impairment. Anti-aging medicine is about improving the quality of life, as well as longevity. As a result, lifestyle is of utmost importance in anti-aging medicine. Radiant good health does not come only from a pill or injection, but it is the combination of multiple factors including diet, exercise, stress reduction, and proper communication between patient and physician.

The Future of Anti-Aging

Given the projected longevity of life, anti-aging medicine will become an essential, integral part of medicine by orienting patients and giving them the proper tools necessary to guide them on a path toward quality of life.
